Load Tap Changers

Studies have shown that Load Tap Changers (LTC) are responsible for as much as 40% of transformer failures.  Frequent DGA testing is an excellent preventative method to failure, as the gas ratios can help flag issues before failure.  There are many different types of arcing and vacuum type LTCs, so it’s important to select a vendor experienced with analyzing, identifying and correcting LTC issues.  MVA can help you identify an issue, and then mobilize our field crew to inspect, repair or replace the LTC, depending on the extent of the damage.
