At MVA, safety is an essential part of how we approach every transformer field service project. During Safe + Sound Week, August 10–16, 2026, we’re joining organizations across the country in recognizing the importance of strong workplace safety and health programs, and the people who put those practices into action every day.
Led by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Safe + Sound Week is a nationwide initiative that recognizes successful workplace safety and health programs while encouraging organizations to continually strengthen their approach to protecting employees. OSHA emphasizes three core elements of an effective safety and health program: management leadership, worker participation, and a systematic approach to finding and fixing hazards.
Safety in Transformer Field Services
Transformer field service requires technical expertise, careful planning, and constant awareness of the work environment. Whether our crews are supporting transformer assembly, electrical testing, repairs, oil processing, bushing replacement, load tap changer work, or other field services, safety must remain at the forefront from the beginning of a project through completion.
Working around large power transformers and high-voltage equipment presents unique challenges. Conditions can vary from one jobsite to another, which makes preparation, communication, and situational awareness critical. Our field teams understand that completing a project successfully means more than delivering quality technical work—it means performing that work safely.
Safety Starts Before the Work Begins
A strong safety culture begins well before tools and equipment are put to work. Understanding the scope of the project, identifying potential hazards, communicating responsibilities, and making sure personnel are prepared for the work ahead all contribute to a safer jobsite.
Once work begins, that commitment continues through communication among team members, proper use of personal protective equipment, attention to changing site conditions, and a willingness to identify and address potential hazards.
Every member of a field crew has a role in maintaining a safe working environment. Experience is important, but so is remaining alert, asking questions, communicating concerns, and never allowing familiarity with a task to replace proper safety practices.
Protecting the People Behind Reliable Power
Our customers depend on MVA to help maintain some of the most critical assets in the electrical power system. We take that responsibility seriously, but the most important assets on any project are the people performing the work.
Safe + Sound Week provides an opportunity to recognize the professionals who make safety part of their work every day. Their knowledge, preparation, communication, and commitment help protect their coworkers while allowing MVA to deliver the transformer expertise our customers depend on.
Safety isn’t something that matters for only one week each year. It is an ongoing commitment that supports our employees, our customers, and the reliability of the critical power infrastructure we serve.
